Remember God’s Faithfulness

There is one easy way we can restrict God from working in our lives – failing to remember His faithfulness.

In the Old Testament, we see the nation of Israel fall away from God time and time again. It usually looked something like this:

Israel needs help. They turn to God and pray. God moves mightily and Israel is delivered. Then, Israel forgets what God has done. They stop worshipping Him and find themselves once more in a situation where they need help.

Why? Because remembering God’s faithfulness is something that has to be done intentionally.

It’s easy to point the finger at Israel and question how they could forget the mighty works God did for them. But how many of us do the same thing?

Some of us have had experiences where God made a way when there was no way, where He provided for us, or healed us. But today, we hardly remember it. Once the problem is gone, so is our need for God.

That produces a small heart, limited vision, and ultimately unbelief.

Instead, when we remember what God has done, it produces faith in our heart to believe for more, even greater works of God.

What comes to mind right now when you think about God’s faithfulness? Are you blown away by His goodness, power and might? Are you in awe of how He continually pours out His love and mercy?

If not, stir up your remembrance.

“But I will remember the years of the right hand of the Most High. I will remember the works of the Lord; Surely I will remember Your wonders of old. I will also meditate on all Your work, and talk of Your deeds. Your way, O God, is in the sanctuary; Who is so great a God as our God? You are the God who does wonders; You have declared Your strength among the peoples.” -Psalm 77:10-14

P.S. It takes intentional effort to remember God's goodness. A few ways we do that are thinking about what God has done for us, and also talking about it. So leave us a comment and tell of a time God was faithful in your life.
