Refreshed Through People

Burned out. Tired. Running on empty. If that’s how you feel, you may be in need of a little refreshment. And while you can be refreshed through prayer, worship, or reading your Bible, there is another method that might be overlooked.

Being refreshed through people.

In fact, the apostle Paul spoke of this while he was imprisoned in Rome.

“The Lord grant mercy to the household of Onesiphorus, for he often refreshed me, and was not ashamed of my chain.” -2 Timothy 1:16

God designed us to live life in a face-to-face, in-person community of people. Why? So we can help bear each other’s burdens (Galatians 6:) and stir up love and good works toward each other (Hebrews 10:24).

Have you ever noticed that if you experience a physical injury in your body, other body parts will compensate for the weakness? Now, this isn’t good for a prolonged period, but in short stints, it can help the body recover. And the same goes for the Body of Christ.

But refreshment through people doesn’t have to only be for rough seasons of life. You can be inspired by other people, have conversations about the things of God that fire you up, or simply partake in a shared passion/hobby with someone.

So where can you find these “refreshing” people?

We’re glad you asked. That is exactly why we have Life Groups. We realize that as Life Church grows larger, it is vital for us to also grow smaller and maintain connection with others.

If you didn’t get a chance to sign-up for a Life Group during the expo this past Sunday, we highly encourage you to do so.

As it says in Hebrews 10:25, let us not forsake “the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but [exhort] one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.”
