Think Saved

Did you know the average person has more than 6,000 thoughts every day? That means you have a new thought every 14.4 seconds.

Did you also know that not all your thoughts come from you?

Sure, most of them do. But you also have thoughts God gives you. And then you have thoughts the devil sneakily whispers into your ear. Thoughts he hopes you dwell on, meditate on, and then act on.

Just as with Eve, the enemy wants you to listen to him long enough to start thinking like him, to start accepting what he has to say as truth, to accept his lies as your reality and live a defeated life.

As Christians, while our spirits have already been saved, our mind is being transformed each day as we choose to think saved and put on our Helmet of Salvation. Unfortunately, a lot of us have listened to the enemy for too long and are more familiar with his voice then God’s.

But how can you tell the difference between a thought from the enemy or a thought from God?

You bring it back to the Bible and the known character of your Father.

*A quick tip: if the thought leads to fear, anxiety, depression, or condemnation—it’s not from God.

You failed at that and should have done better. You’re worthless.”

Did Jesus ever say anything like that to Peter when he denied Jesus three times and left Him? Nope. So would He say it to you?

“You’re no good and will never amount to anything.”

Is that what God told Paul as he was persecuting and killing Christians? No. So would God say that to you?

“There is no way out of this situation.”

Weren’t those the famous last words of Jesus as the storm and waves overtook the boat and drowned Him and the disciples? Oh wait, no, Jesus spoke to the storm and it stopped.

There is a reason that we’re instructed in Romans 12 “to be transformed by the renewing of your mind,” and in 2 Corinthians 10 to bring “every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ.”

When we see ourselves as God sees us, through the lens of Jesus, and think saved thoughts, we can live a free, forgiven, and victorious life.
