The Best Investment
If you had an extra 35 days per year, what could you do with that time?
Would you take more time to rest and recharge your batteries? Would you spend more time to invest in friends, family, and relationships?
Would you find more time to pray, read the Bible, and hangout with God?
The average American spends two hours and 18 minutes on social media daily (Statista). That’s roughly 69 hours per month.
And almost 35 days per year.
Not having enough time (or money/resources) is a common complaint. But what if we do have enough time and money—we are just investing them wrong?
Just like the stock market, certain investments yield more of a return. If you bought Apple stock in 1995, you’d be sitting on a great return. If you bought Blockbuster stock…maybe not so much.
When it comes to our day-to-day lives, there is no better investment than the Kingdom of God. When we spend time with our Father, we yield peace and rest. When we give financially, it is given back to us.

Matthew 6:6 But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly.
Galatians 6:9 And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.
Luke 6:38 Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you.”
Proverbs 11:24-25 There is one who scatters, yet increases more; and there is one who withholds more than is right, but it leads to poverty. The generous soul will be made rich, and he who waters will also be watered himself.
Psalm 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.
John 15:7-8 If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you. By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples.

Isaiah 26:3 You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You.
Like that last verse said, when we fill our minds and thoughts with the things of God, He’ll keep us in perfect peace.
We have peace because we trust in our Father who provides us with answers to problems throughout the day. We trust in him to pay our bills because He said He would give back to us in good measure. We have peace because He guides us to take the right path in life.
What better investment of our time and money than giving them to God and getting perfect peace in return?
So analyze your “investments” in life. If social media doesn’t benefit you, maybe it’s time to let it go. If you can find time to binge-watch TV shows—but can’t find time to pray—could that be a hindrance to your life in any way?
